At just six years old, Kasen has already shown courage far beyond his years.
On June 20, 2024, he was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia—news no child or family should ever have to hear. Since then, Kasen has faced months of intense treatment, including hundreds of doses of chemotherapy, multiple procedures, dozens of blood transfusions, and weeks spent in the hospital, including time in the ICU. At one point, a life-threatening complication required critical medication costing $50,000 per dose to save his life.
But Kasen’s story isn’t defined only by treatments and hospital stays. It’s seen in the quiet ways cancer has reshaped childhood—carrying hand sanitizer everywhere he goes, carefully preparing before leaving the house, and approaching everyday activities with caution most children never have to consider.
Despite it all, Kasen continues to show remarkable strength, hope, and resilience. As we celebrate the American Cancer Society’s Richmond Golf Classic, we are honored to recognize him as this year’s Mission Honoree and a powerful reminder of why we continue the fight against cancer.
